Wayfarer (travel website) - Project Overview

Visual / UI Design & Branding

WAYFARER is a tool for researching where to travel next, based on preferences, although it doesn’t directly sell any trips, flights, or accommodations on the site. The target audience is anyone between the ages of 21 and 30 who travels frequently and is in search of new adventures.

- Think through how people will navigate to other pages or sections within the site.
- Include a call-to-action to sign up for the newsletter and show featured destinations.
- Create design options for these 3 screens (desktop, tablet, mobile)

Tools: Figma, Miro, Whimsical, Photoshop, Illustrator

Deliverables:

  • Desktop Landing Page: To attract new young travelers to join Wayfarer by signing up for their weekly newsletter and exposing them to their services and promos.

  • Mobile App Screens: This app aims to give travelers a way of accessing information about destinations while they’re on the move.

Initial design work and preparation

The Desktop LP page was the first one I conceptualized before moving to the app design. First, I got familiar with the requirements of the projects; I organized my given assets and did some research, looking for similar websites/apps like Airbnb, Roadtrippers, and Lonely Planet.

Concept & Brand Identity

I made my sketches freehand and then started working on the web page in Figma. The mobile version was much easier to produce once that was completed. The other pages designed are Log in, Profile, and Card – Page.

  • A login screen for the user with options for Sign Up or Create New account options

  • A screen featuring a list of destinations and recommendations for the user to access.

  • A detailed destination page dedicated to a single travel option. This page will provide all the details of one particular destination, such as info, and useful links to tours, activities, and services available.

Once the desktop version was established, I maintained the same look and feel, preserved the same UI elements, and resized them according to the standards of each mobile device.
